Achieng Abura was a Kenyan musician who born in Eldoret and performed Afro-Jazz, Afro-Fusion and Gospel music. She debuted with her gospel album "I Believe" around 1990. Abura won Kora Award in 2004 for Best East African Female an award she shared with Tsedenia Gebremarkos of Ethiopia. Her following albums were ‘Way Over Yonder’ and ‘Sulwe’. Abura acted as principal of East African reality TV show, ‘Tusker Project Fame’ and is among the Kenyan artistes who have been sponsored by the Alliance Française. She was part of the Divas of the Nile Super Group, which featured four Kenyan female musicians Suzzana Owiyo, Mercy Myra and Princess Jully. The group performed at the Festival Mundial in Tilburg, Netherlands in 2002 and 2007. Abura held a MSC. degree in Philosophy and Environmental studies and was as well a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador.
