Dully Sykes
Dully Sykes is a Tanzanian musician who specializes in Bongo Flava, a genre of Tanzanian music that was developed in the 1990s mainly as a derivative of American Hip Hop with additional influences from Reggae, R&B, Afro Beat Dance Hall and traditional Tanzanian styles. Like many of his Tanzanian counter parts he gained regional recognition when the popular Dar es Salam based Channel 5 East Africa’s (EATV) first aired his song "Hi" which became a huge regional hit. Sykes is one of the pioneers of Swahili Dance-Hall in the African Great Lakes region and is widely known for hits like "Julieta", "Salome", "Historia ya Kweli," "Leah" and one of the most controversial songs in Tanzania, "Nyambizi" which the radio and TV stations refused to air due to what they considered lewd content.
