Kidum was born in the Northern town of Bujumbura, Kinama location in Burundi. He got involved in the music industry as a drummer when he was ten years old in 1984. In 1986 he was involved with a local band named Imvumero where he stayed for six years. Afterwards, within the period between 1992 and1993 he worked for the Imboneza Band, which was retained by the then Burundian ruling party UPRONA. In 1994, he launched his first band Electric Power, which only lasted a year due to the civil war that erupted in Burundi during the period. He subsequently fled to Kenya in 1995. He joined the Hot Rod Band where he stayed until 2003 and in 2004, formed his own band, the Boda Boda Band. He has recorded four albums to date; Yaramenje, (2000) Shamba (2003) Ishano (2005) and Ubuhamya (2008). Kidum is married and has five children.
