Royal Zama was born in 1982 in Kibera, Nairobi- Kenya. In 1998 he began his Musical Career while at Makina Self Help Primary school. In 1999 he joined a rap group by the name X-Patiz which later changed to its name to Blackhoodies. It is with this group that they won an international Drugs awareness campaign that was held on 27th June 2000 in Kibera, and got a recording deal that led to the release of their first single the following year. In August 2006, he went back to the studio and recorded his first hit single “Acha-Kulia” that was done at Tuff Audio Studio. The single did well on the local airwaves leading to the first biggest hit collaboration of his life with Miss Earth South Sudan Nancy Muja on the song “Yal-Africa”. On July 2007, Zama opened up his musical studio, Square Masters Entertainment.
